REC DANCE offers girls, ages 3-8, the opportunity to explore their interest in dance in a less structured environment. They will be exposed to various disciplines on an introductory level and also experience the use of different worship elements such as tambourines and ribbons. REC dance classes run January through the end of May Showcase.

Tap classes are available for girls beginning at age 6. Classes consist of learning or drilling tap steps with increasing difficulty and linking those steps together in combinations. Tap classes run September-May. Tap dancers perform in the May Showcase.

Ballet technique class is available for all dancers 5 and up and is the strong foundation for all other forms of dance. Due to time restraints, only the ballet basics are taught in the GCD Company Classes for ages 8 and up, so we highly recommend supplementing with a Ballet class. These extra Ballet classes will spend a significant time on proper alignment of the body, carriage of the arms, turnout of the legs and gracefulness. Dancers will learn ballet skills with increasing difficulty. Ballet classes run September-May. Dancers in the Ballet classes will perform in the May Showcase.

Ages 9 and up can join our Foot Strengthening classes. These will help dancers strengthen vital areas of dance such as  high relevés, feet with a sharp pointe, strong jumps, increased balance, overall strength and conditioning, and full articulation and control of the feet. For those dancers hoping to dance en pointe, Foot Strengthening class is the first step in that process. These classes run all year round.

The Pointe program is a process that begins in our Ballet and Foot Strengthening Classes and is by invitation only.  If you are in those classes and are interested in the possibility, let us know.  You must participate in Pointe/Pre-Pointe and Foot Strengthening classes all year long. If you are highly motivated, have a strong work ethic and are willing to dedicate yourself to at-home practice time, we can discuss your options. A pointe dance may or may not appear in the Spring Show. If it does not fit into the Spring Show theme in any given year, the pointe dancers will be invited to participate in the Christmas show.

ACRO DANCE Classes are available for 5-18 years old. We use the acclaimed “Acrobatic Arts” curriculum which is based on a safe and effective progression through levels.  Acro-Dance focuses on flexibilty, strength, balancing, limbering and tumbling. So that dancers do not lose flexibility, strength and skills due to inactivity, Acro-Dance is available all year long. All new dancers start in a primary level class until the base skills are learned. While we may choose to use acrobatics in the choreography for the Spring Show, the only guaranteed performance is the May Showcase.

This class is available for dancers 10 and up. We will focus on the muscles that give dancers powerful jumps and the flexibility needed for splits and basic limbering. This is an excellent add-on for those that want the extra strength and flexibility training that makes a strong dancer, but are not necessarily interested in the tumbling of the acro-dance program.

This is the schedule for those taking individual classes only.
