Following the “Guidance for All Sports Permitted to Operate During the COVID-19 Disaster Emergency to Ensure the Safety and Health of Employees, Athletes and the Public”

updated November 19, 2020, Grace Christian Dance Company will need to

adhere to the following procedures:

  1. Staff and student temperatures will need to be taken at the door. Any temperatures of 100.4 or higher will have to be sent home. Please wait until we clear your dancer before leaving the premises. This will be done with an instant touchless thermometer. If you are waiting on site, please see #5.

To make this a less intimidating procedure for our littles, the thermometer will be inside a ballerina puppet that will have them pose for a picture.

  1. Staff and students will hand sanitize on the way in the building and on the way out. If your dancer is allergic, or you are opposed to the use of hand sanitizer, there are restrooms right by the door and they can wash their hands as they enter and leave.

  1. Each dancer will be assigned a chair on which to place their items and change their shoes. The chairs (as well as all hand touched surfaces) will be disinfected between classes. Dancers will wear a mask until they enter and reach their assigned chair. During class, we will do our best to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between each dancer or have them wear a mask if we are unable to do so. At the end of class, when they return to their chair to gather belongings, they will need to put their mask back on before exiting the building. The GCDC Staff will wear masks or face shields when within six feet of your dancer.
Per the updated order (November 19, 2020) the following changes will be made to our COVID-19 procedures.
  • The dancers and staff have to wear masks or face shields during the entire class unless they fall into an exemption category in Section 3 of this order (2nd link below). If your dancer has any issues described in Section 3, let me know and we can work out other options.
  • The order allows for removal of the mask if the “exertion level does not allow for face covering to be worn safely.” During moments of heavy cardio, we will give dancers the option of removing their mask temporarily.
  • We do have a limited amount of face shields available at no charge for our dancers. Let us know if you would like to reserve one. They are yours to keep.
You can read the entirety of the updated guidance and order at these links:

  1. Please have your dancer wait in your car until 5-10 minutes before the start of class.

5. The waiting area is available, if necessary. Following the government guidelines, you would need to remain socially distanced or masked. There are green Xs on the floor for distancing. Please bring your own chair or blanket.

  1. Your dancer is welcome to wear a mask during class, but masks will not be required while exercising. We will maintain appropriate distance during class and avoid close contact as is our normal procedure in classes anyway.

  1. Water fountains will be unavailable. Please provide your dancer with a water bottle or money to purchase one from us.

  1. Dancers are required to bring their mat or towel for stretching purposes. A yoga mat is fine for this purpose.

  1. Until COVID-19 regulations have eased, many class ending times will need to be adjusted for cleaning purposes. Check the online schedule for details.

  1. For your daughter’s safety, please be outside your vehicle or near the entrance door so we can make sure that your dancer is sent home with the appropriate person. If the person bringing your dancer will not be the one picking them up, please notify the front desk. We ask that you please wear a mask when approaching the front desk and entrance door.

Please keep your dancer home if she is feeling ill or has been at-risk of contracting COVID-19. This includes:

  • Symptoms that of fever, fatigue, difficulty in breathing, or dry cough or exhibiting any other symptoms relating to COVID-19 or any communicable disease within the last 14 days.
  • Internationally traveled (by sea or air) within the past 30 days.
  • Visited any area within the United States that was reported to be highly affected by COVID-19, in the last 30 days.
  • Have been diagnosed to be infected of COVID-19 virus within the last 30 days.
  • Have been exposed to anyone that has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within 14 days.

Our typical procedure for Company dancers is to require a private lesson when your dancer misses two classes in a row from September-November and any one class January-April. We suspect that there will be a lot of absences due to COVID-19 sensitivity. If necessary, we will record part or all of the class and send it home to students who need to make up a class. When requested, a Zoom link to a live class will be available for older groups taught by Mrs. Black or Mrs. Fehr. After COVID-19 restrictions have eased, we will resume private lessons and will not be filming classes.  We will be unable to film ACRO classes, but can send home a link for stretch and strengthen exercises, if requested.
